Your Birth Chart Is a Conversation, Not a Label

One of the biggest misconceptions about astrology is that your birth chart tells you who you are.

"You're a Scorpio, so you're intense."

"You've got Saturn in the 7th house, so relationships are always going to be difficult."

"You've got Pluto there... well, good luck."

I don't believe that's what astrology is for.

To me, your birth chart isn't a label.

It's the beginning of a conversation.

Astrology Isn't Here to Put You in a Box

We've all felt the temptation to reduce ourselves to a handful of words.

"I'm anxious."

"I'm too emotional."

"I'm just a people pleaser."

"I'm a Virgo, that's why."

But human beings are wonderfully complex.

Your birth chart reflects that complexity.

It doesn't flatten you into a personality type. It invites you to become curious about the many parts of yourself.

Symbols, Not Sentences

One of the reasons I fell in love with psychological astrology is because it treats the birth chart as a symbolic language.

A symbol doesn't have just one meaning.

Think about a river.

For one person it represents freedom.

For another, fear.

For someone else, home.

The symbol stays the same, but the lived experience changes.

Astrology works in much the same way.

The planets, signs and houses aren't fixed definitions. They're symbols that come alive through your own experiences, relationships, choices and inner world.

That's why two people with remarkably similar birth charts can live very different lives.

The Questions Are More Important Than the Answers

When I sit with someone's birth chart, I'm not looking for a script to read.

I'm listening.

I'm wondering.

I'm asking questions.

Does this placement resonate?

How has this shown up in your life?

What has this taught you?

The birth chart isn't something I interpret at someone.

It's something we explore together.

Because you're the expert on your own life.

Astrology simply gives us another language to understand it.

Your Chart Doesn't Remove Your Choice

Perhaps the most empowering thing about astrology is this:

Your chart can describe patterns.

It cannot make your decisions.

It might show where you tend to protect yourself.

Where you're naturally gifted.

Where you might meet challenge.

But every day, you still choose how you respond.

That's where growth lives.

Not in changing your chart.

But in becoming conscious of it.

A Conversation That Changes With You

One of my favourite things about astrology is that the same chart speaks differently at different stages of life.

A placement that once felt like a burden might later become a strength.

Something that made no sense at twenty suddenly becomes crystal clear at forty.

The chart hasn't changed.

You have.

That's why I never stop learning from my own birth chart.

It's less like reading a book once...

...and more like returning to an old friend who always has something new to show you.

The Heart of My Work

When people ask me what an astrology reading is like, this is the answer I come back to.

It's not about telling you who you are.

It's about creating a space where we can become curious together.

Your birth chart won't hand you a fixed identity.

But it might help you understand your patterns.

It might help you recognise your gifts.

It might offer compassion for the parts of yourself you've struggled to accept.

And sometimes...

That's far more powerful than having all the answers.
