Tarot vs Astrology: Which Reading Is Right for You?

When choosing between a tarot or astrology reading, I often come back to this:

Tarot is a mirror.
Astrology is a map.

Both can guide you — but they do it in very different ways.

Tarot: The Mirror

Tarot reflects what’s happening right now.

It shows you your current emotional landscape, the energy around a situation, and the patterns that are active in your life. Sometimes it confirms what you already feel. Sometimes it gently brings something to the surface that you’ve been avoiding.

A tarot reading can feel like looking into a mirror — not always to get answers, but to see clearly.

It’s especially helpful if you:

  • Have a question or situation on your mind

  • Feel stuck or unsure what to do next

  • Need clarity in the present moment

  • Want something intuitive and immediate

It meets you exactly where you are.

Astrology: The Map

Astrology zooms out.

Your birth chart is a map of your inner world — your patterns, emotional needs, strengths, and challenges. It doesn’t just look at what’s happening now, but why certain themes keep appearing in your life.

An astrology reading gives context.

It helps you understand yourself on a deeper level, so you can move through life with more awareness and intention.

It’s especially helpful if you:

  • Want to understand yourself more deeply

  • Notice repeating patterns in relationships or life

  • Are going through a period of change or transition

  • Feel ready to explore the bigger picture

It’s something you return to, again and again.

So… Mirror or Map?

It really depends on what you need.

If you want clarity on something current → Tarot (the mirror)
If you want deeper understanding and context → Astrology (the map)

Neither is better — they simply serve different purposes.

And often, they work best together.

My Approach

Whether you book a tarot reading or an astrology reading, my approach stays the same:

Grounded, intuitive, and focused on self-awareness.

My tarot readings are intuitive and reflective, using Kim Krans decks to explore what’s present and unfolding.

My astrology readings are psychologically informed, helping you understand your patterns rather than just describing them.

No fixed answers.
No judgement.
Just space to see yourself more clearly.

If You’re Not Sure

You don’t have to choose perfectly.

If you’re unsure, tarot is often a gentle starting point — a way to look in the mirror and understand where you are.

From there, astrology can help you explore the map.

Feel free to get in touch and have a chat to determine which is best for you, if you’re still unsure. I am based in Bristol and can meet in person if you are a local, or online for comfort anywhere.
