Why Your Moon Sign Matters More Than You Think
Most people know their Sun sign.
"I'm a Scorpio."
"I'm a Leo."
"I'm a Pisces."
But if you ask me, the most revealing part of a birth chart is often the Moon.
Because your Moon isn't about who you want the world to see.
It's about who you are when the world goes quiet.
The Moon Lives Beneath the Surface
In astrology, the Moon represents your inner world.
Your emotional landscape.
Your instincts.
Your memories.
Your nervous system.
It's the part of you that responds before you've had time to think.
When life feels overwhelming, it's often your Moon that takes the wheel.
Your Emotional Home
I've always thought of the Moon as our emotional home.
It shows what helps us feel safe.
What nourishes us.
How we comfort ourselves.
And, sometimes, how we protect ourselves when we've been hurt.
Some people need conversation.
Some need silence.
Some need movement.
Some need to retreat completely.
None are right or wrong.
They're simply different emotional languages.
Why Two People Can Have the Same Sun Sign... Yet Feel Completely Different
This is one of my favourite things about astrology.
Two people might both be Geminis, yet one loves a busy room full of conversation while the other quietly disappears when life becomes too much.
The difference is often found elsewhere in the chart—and the Moon is usually one of the first places I look.
It's one of the reasons I love psychological astrology so much.
It reminds us that people are wonderfully layered.
The Moon Isn't Something To "Fix"
I don't believe astrology is about correcting ourselves.
It's about understanding ourselves.
When you understand your Moon sign, you begin to notice your emotional patterns with more compassion.
Instead of asking,
"Why am I like this?"
you might begin asking,
"What do I need right now?"
It's a much gentler question.
And often, a much more useful one.
Getting to Know Your Moon
Your Moon sign isn't there to limit you.
It's there to help you understand the language your heart already speaks.
The more you learn to listen to it, the easier it becomes to care for yourself in ways that are genuine rather than performative.
Perhaps that's one of the greatest gifts astrology offers.
Not answers.
Understanding.
And from understanding...
Compassion.
